What we are seeing and hearing in congress is the overwhelming ignorance and lack of understanding of the contributions made by H1B and GC aspirants to the US economy. There is the wise saying that "Everything happens for a good reason". We have been trying so hard for last 2-3 years to make these politicians realize and to make corporate America realize that they need to do something about our problems because of our value proposition. Apparently all these calls have only backfired and caused the anti-immigrationists to lobby even harder and pull the strings of politicians to make them do as they please. Whether we like it or not, unless the raw brunt of a mass exodus of educated work force is not felt by this country, there is no way for them to understand how wrong they are. EB category has never had loyal support. All of the corporate america support has rested on the need for H1B. We have been abused by this system and forced to feel that we have abused this system. I think we have been told in a million ways by now that we need to find a Plan B. I feel bad yet no remorse for the thousands of H1Bs who do nothing to support the cause of organizations like IV. As someone once said, most of them are very laid back and will not worry about the problems untill someone tells them to buy their return tickets back home. We are very happy with eating samosa and tea and do not have the perspective to realize what threats lie on the horizon. I say this based on actual conversations with some of these people who literally scoff at me and think I am off my rocker when I discuss the repurcussions of no reforms. Like the prehistoric animals who did nothing to adapt in the full view of changing environmental conditions, these laid back folks will realize only too late.

I have a valid H1 approval till 2011 and used AP for my previous india visit. Right now i am transfering my H1 to a new company.
I asked my lawyer if i was on H1 status or not? She replied, Unitl you use EAD, i will be on H1B Status.
and also we can transfer our H1 to new company also. thats what i am doing now.

Duration for I-94 while entering on AP is same as validity for AP. I am not sure what will happen in the scenario below:
A person on H1B validity for two years enters US on AP, which was valid for an year. He/She gets I-94 for only one year. in case person do not have any travel plan for next two year, will he be out of status after year as I-94 would have expird after one year and he/she kept working for H1B sponserer for two years.
Another questuon is Does renewed AP also comes with new I-94, like H1B renewals?

I submitted usps money orders for I-485 fees. Filed on july 2nd.
Any way to find out if those money orders are enchashed or no?
I did try google search and so far no answer.
I am not aware of anyway to check if money order is enchased or not, because, I think, you have to pay money upfront when you buy money order. However, I can be wrong.

I am talking about the real scenarios in past that were covered. Did you have the first hand experience of it being covered?
I have bought it twice for my parents but did not use it (thank god). Yes that's a hypothetical scenario but I went through the policy fine print. At least it offers to cover some part of preexisting conditions which other plans do not.

After meeting several administrative and Lawmakers staff, we concluded there's no legislation that can help people waiting for Labor Cert from BECs. But we thought if people get 3 year H1B ext. Atleast they can move on to new jobs etc and file in PERM etc. It will be a big relief.
Just contributed $100 and asked several of my friends to join.
Btw, I do not see anthing in the amendments to address labor backlog reduction problem? Is that not goal of IV any more?

I actually had to go and visit the URL to really make myself believe that someone can be this dumb. Well to each his own.
One thing I did notice was the comment "it is soon becoming the voice of rich and/or EB2 Indians only -- all other categories will either have no direct advantage with the efforts put in by IV, or they will actually see some negative effect from its activities. But that will be the case with any organization that claims to stand for a particular class. In reality, every core group will stand up for it and only itself."
Does someone care to explain this? I am EB3-ROW, I have occasionally donated and occasionally called but I don't think IV has ever HURT my case?
On a side note: just on the off chance that the comment is true and IV is truly a community of RICH Indians: can I borrow some money? :D :D The eay I look at it, if 50 of these rich, EB2 Indians give me $ 10,000 each, I can get my GC by investment and I will pay you all back in 2 years. :p

1) Removal of per-country quota: Claimed to be fair for everyone. Not really. It only helps Indians and Chinese. ROW will see a serious degradation in the time they will get their GCs. I am sure there will be lots of bashing based on this, but the fact of the matter is that such action is not suitable for non I/C applicants.
2) The Rich guy comment is based on the latest (supposedly supported by the CORE no less) action which is to ask for legislative changes if you have money to throw in to buy a house with 20% down.
So yes, I do stand by my statement that IV is devolving into less than general purpose immigration group.
I am EB3-India, yet I dont support the removal of per country limits, as there is a reason for the diversity rule, Indians and Chinese are currently on the wrong side of the equation so it seems "fair" to remove the quota.

It is possible INS can track you down using posts here as you seem to be illegally here in the US. I wouldnt be advising anything to you as you are an illegal alien.

INS can't even track down the 12 million "really illegal " aliens that you and I see everyday around us and they will waste their time going after this guy who has already left the country.
Get a grip on practical things in life.
The employer should most certainly be reported to DOL for fraud.

I like your response, really -- I think it's frank and hits upon what it means to be Indian at heart.
BUT, when one makes a decision to immigrate - he/she's not just making that decision for himself - but also for his/her spawns and the future generations to come. Is it fair for us to rob them of (well, i know most american born desi kids don't care a rats ass about going/being in India) - what it feels to be an Indian at Heart? what it 'Really' feels like to be watching/talking cricket/movies on 'em gullies, what it's like to be eating gaadi chaat, what a festival should really feel/look like .. and a bunch of other stuff- -that happens only in India.
not trying to discount anyone's opinions .. it's just the internal dilemma that needs addressing

But aren't there sufficient applications received in July-Aug 2007 to use up all the numbers ?!? That's the loophole in your analysis. As per official reports, I believe close to 300k applications were received in those two months for AOS, true ?!?
