I agree with nitinboston, Forget the haters.
We have to do something.If things work much better than waiting for GC just head over there. There are tremendous oppurinities available. US GC is not the perfect thing to get in life. People like Dhuribhai Ambani, Tata etc... did not work for their American GC. Keep your eyes open and keep on researching with different options.
Regarding IT, I don't think IT guys can only work on IT. you can study something new, change your field and be someone everybody would respect. Some of them in IV have stuidied in IITs, have double master degrees from US and waiting in a que. Start a business, have some goals rather than predicting about visa bulletin.

All the hallmarks of a tin-pot state. Plus it can't seem to get anything done right. Iraq is a mess. Deficit, mess. Sub prime loans: mess. Health care: mess. Social Security: mess. Personally, I've watched the US dollar devaluate against my currency by around 40%, while salaries have not changed. Is my purchasing power higher here still? Five years ago, it was a no-brainer. Now, I'd have to add it up.
The main reason that I stay here is that I already have a life here. Objects that are stationary tend to remain so, as Newton would say. Unfortunately, that is the best reason I have to stay.

The rumor is the world cat will be current and all others unavailable since the quota for those countries are already filled. Sounds logical. Sadly, my app will be screwed in that case. @snathan, sorry pal i thought you must those fake identities in disguise who could pull you back from filing a complaint since they were one from the run, anyways with your suggestion the consular processing i understand there is a chance to come back, but to be true these 3 months have set me back by 3 years, with the consultant not picking my call when i want to ask him about the situation, running from company to company to attend an interview, they all taking a 5-6 hour interview and then then getting back 2 months later only to tell you that
they had another senior in line from the company for promotion , they gave him the job and no outside candidates are being considered, other companies also making a mockery of the process of hiring. I would be better going to australia and working from within there, yes i did pay for my H1B but to be so true as i want to be i though it was a procedure at the companies and only realized after i had handed it over by reading this forum that i had also become in cohoots with this consultant. I am not a cry baby here , just that people flying in from all parts of the world , India, Australia, Canada and god knows from where, should be made aware that such things could happen to you and beware, for me the beware sign a little late as i believed at first started my research later.

@poorslumdog when i started to research i found that this company has done this to many Indian guys, many Canadians by charging visa fees and charging some extra dough and sat on it like a vulture, did nothing to call them to the country and some have never reported to work after 3 years of visa filing, now why is this whole tantrum of filing then, they have been expanding with offices in various areas in US and it acts a good mark on
their company in terms of view from a outside and successful visa filing with candidate money with no responsibility of placing then is a goldmine, they are like half hits in terms of placing and calling people here, i met with an Indian guy who had come here on his own and changed the company finally as he went thru the same scum of this company.
Seems like there are victims falling for this modus operandi time after time.

But IV core team has lots of experience and they have even started having talks with USICS directly, is'nt that a big achievement!
We need to try different ways to contact the law makers and find out which one is easy to implement and works efficiently.
When you call the law makers and tell them you support XYZ bill.. my question is what do you get out of it!
When the lawmaker realizes that he is getting 10000 calls from LEGAL aliens,

what is the motivation for the law maker to support the bill�
So to avoid sounding stupid and foolish and desperate when you call� a more logical approach would be to :
a) Generate a public petition form on IV website and have all the members� login and sign the forms digitally�
b) Then have IV reps.. fax them and send them to lobby groups �.
c) Lawmakers will listen to one talking head�and not worry abt 1000 calls that borders on ..�saar �support the bill saar�..
How many of you have actually talked to the lawmakers? Its always the assistant!
But instead .. someone says we have a signed petition of 25000 members effected by immigration mess �. And it�s a hi tech workers lobby group ..every lawmaker will talk to you and not the assistant!
Conclusion: calling the lawmakers haphazardly is actually hurting IV cause..to a certain extent!

Well, I know for sure, that your prevailing wage for H1b is different for prevailing wage for GC. GC is for future employment and ur current wage won't affect your GC.
It depends on your employer, if your attorney comes back with a "wage" for the job, it is upto your employer to agree to pay that wage "after you get your GC". As GC is many years down the lane, you can convince your employer that wage has nothing to do with your wage now.
If your employer agrees to this condition go ahead with GC filing, say you earn 60K and GC pay is 85K, just go ahead and file GC.
Once your 140 is approved, you may consider change in employment with PD portability, or once you apply for 485 and it takes more than 180 days, you can switch using AC21 for a better pay.

I collected my passport with the visa stamped yesterday from the VFS center in chennai. I sent an e-mail on tuesday to the consulate and i got a response from them saying it could take another 4 days approx and the delay was caused by the recent change and the introduction of the PIMS database. It looks like they are digging through your old records as well.
For those people whose passports have been delayed, it's most probably due to the PIMS database and i suggest strongly to send an e-mail with the subject line "PASSPORT PENDING for more than 5 days" and you would most often get the response the next day. Do not call the consulate as they don't tell you what you want to hear. The person who answers the call is an indian and he/she would not have much information to give you.
Could you please let me know when was your visa appointment and how many days it took before you got your passport. Mine was 6th Dec and no update from consulate yet.
